In 2004, the R1 arrived completely transformed: a new Deltabox V frame with revised rigidity, a fully redesigned 998cc engine with oversquare dimensions of 77 x 53.6mm, five valves per cylinder, dual-throttle electronic fuel injection and ram-air intake. Power exceeded 180hp while dry weight dropped to 172kg — a power-to-weight ratio no production supersport had ever achieved. But the change that most redefined the visual identity of this generation was the twin exhaust system integrated under the seat, replacing the single lateral silencer of previous models. A choice that centralised mass, lowered the centre of gravity and turned the rear end of the bike into one of the most recognisable aesthetic statements in the segment. The products in this category are sports exhausts designed to replace the original mufflers on the R1 2004-2006. The work concerns the two under-seat end cans only: the original headers and the front section of the exhaust system remain in place. Fitting is carried out on the bike's original mounting points with no special adapters required, and each exhaust set is supplied with a complete fitting kit. To ensure a proper seal and correct alignment on both sides, we recommend having the installation carried out by a qualified mechanic.
The weight saving over the pair of stock mufflers is tangible and noticeable across the whole bike. In terms of sound, the R1's four-cylinder — already sharp-voiced and highly characterful — gains a more open and defined note with sports exhausts, with a richer tone at mid and high revs that suits the sporting nature of the bike perfectly. In terms of behaviour, a different management of exhaust gas flow can favour a more responsive throttle and, in certain riding conditions, a greater feeling of engine readiness.

Every sports exhaust set is supplied with a standard dB killer included in both mufflers. Our exhausts are homologated for road use throughout Europe and Switzerland: the homologation certificate is included and is valid with both dB killers fitted. Removing the dB killers invalidates the product's homologation. For those who want to reduce the sound level further, the No-Noise option is available, with an internally welded filter applied to both mufflers, providing a perceptible reduction in decibels without significantly affecting the exhausts' overall behaviour. As this involves replacing only the end cans on a fuel-injected bike like the R1 2004-2006, no ECU remapping or modifications to the engine management are normally required. The engine management adapts to the new configuration without any particular electronic issues.
