The Yamaha MT-09 Tracer was born in 2015 from a precise idea: take the CP3 three-cylinder from the MT-09 — one of the most brilliant and engaging engines of the decade — and build around it a motorcycle capable of doing everything. Not a naked, not a pure tourer, not a road enduro: a crossover that combines the riding pleasure of its naked sister with the comfort and versatility of a touring motorcycle. An 18-litre tank (versus 14 on the MT-09), a longer rear subframe with integrated luggage attachment points, adjustable screen, centre stand, handguards, 12V socket as standard — everything needed to set off without compromise. The 847cc CP3 with 120° crossplane firing order and standard ride-by-wire brings the same 115 hp as the naked, but with revised mappings that smooth out the sharper edges of power delivery and make riding more relaxed over long distances, without taking anything away from the pleasure when you decide to push on. This category brings together exhausts for the Yamaha MT-09 Tracer across the two series produced: the 2015-2016 version, the first series with 847cc Euro 3 CP3 engine, single-level TCS and the most direct and immediate character; and the 2017-2020 version, with TCS updated to two levels, standard slipper clutch, and from 2018 the restyling with larger screen, longer swingarm and the GT variant with cruise control, heated grips and colour TFT instrumentation. The two series feature different original exhaust systems — in homologation and geometry — which is why we have developed and homologated separate solutions for each production interval. For both series we offer a full exhaust system for the MT-09 Tracer that replaces the entire original exhaust, from the collector to the terminal. The original exhaust is designed as an inseparable unit that does not allow replacement of the silencer alone: our system replaces the entire exhaust path maintaining compatibility with the original mounting points without requiring structural modifications. The silencer is positioned underbelly with lateral exit on both series, following the original configuration. The mounting kit is included in the supply. We recommend installation by a qualified mechanic to ensure correct and lasting fitment.

On a motorcycle built for long-distance riding, a sports exhaust brings a contribution that goes beyond sound. The crossplane CP3 of the MT-09 Tracer is the same as in the naked — and as with the naked, freeing it from homologation restrictions means bringing to the fore that three-cylinder timbral voice that is one of the strengths of the entire platform. But on a crossover used for motorway stretches, transfers, mountain roads with luggage, the weight reduction in the underbelly area has a practical and direct effect: less mass in that position lowers the centre of gravity, improves agility in direction changes and makes the motorcycle more communicative — qualities appreciated on a touring bike just as much as on a sports naked.

All available models are homologated for use on public roads throughout Europe and Switzerland, with the homologation certificate included in the supply. The catalytic converter is available as a selectable option on the product page: to maintain full road compliance it is necessary to choose the catalysed version. Choosing the catalysed version results in no fuelling issues or need for remapping: the ECU manages the new exhaust system without any additional intervention, although a short adaptation period during the first rides is normal. Those who choose the non-catalysed version should consider that fuelling may not be optimal and that a remap will likely be necessary to get the best out of the exhaust system. The non-catalysed version is reserved for track use or contexts where road compliance is not required, within the limits permitted by local regulations. The dB killer is included as standard; for those requiring further noise reduction, the No-Noise dB killer is available, with an internally welded filter, also selectable on the product page.
