The heart of the project is the CP3 engine — three cylinders in line with crossplane technology, 270° crankshaft offset — which combines the full torque at low and mid revs typical of a twin with the smoothness and top-end thrust typical of a four-cylinder. For all generations we offer a full exhaust system for the MT-09 that replaces the entire original exhaust, from the collector to the terminal. The original MT-09 exhaust is designed as an inseparable unit that does not allow replacement of the silencer alone: our system replaces the entire exhaust path maintaining compatibility with the original mounting points without requiring structural modifications. The silencer position varies between generations: on the 2013-2016 and 2017-2020 versions the silencer is positioned underbelly with lateral exit, following the original configuration; on the 2021-2023 and 2024- versions the silencer is positioned laterally, a choice made necessary by the new larger Euro 5 catalytic converter that does not allow the underbelly positioning. The mounting kit is included in the supply. We recommend installation by a qualified mechanic to ensure correct and lasting fitment.

The CP3 is one of the most distinctive engines on the road: that three-cylinder sound with irregular firing intervals is immediately recognisable and sets the MT-09 apart from any other naked on the market. A sports exhaust for the MT-09 liberates and enhances it, making even more present that intermediate timbre between the rhythm of a twin and the smoothness of a four-cylinder — a sound that increases in intensity and definition as the revs rise, faithfully reflecting the engine's power delivery. The weight reduction compared to the original exhaust lightens the motorcycle in an area that directly influences dynamic behaviour, with concrete benefits on agility during direction changes. Optimised flow management along the entire exhaust path also promotes a more responsive throttle in the everyday riding range.

All available models are homologated for use on public roads throughout Europe and Switzerland, with the homologation certificate included in the supply. The catalytic converter is available as a selectable option on the product page: to maintain full road compliance it is necessary to choose the catalysed version. For the 2013-2016, 2017-2020 and 2021-2023 generations, choosing the catalysed version results in no fuelling issues or need for remapping: the ECU manages the new exhaust system without any additional intervention, although a short adaptation period during the first rides is normal. Those who choose the non-catalysed version should consider that fuelling may not be optimal and that a remap will likely be necessary to get the best out of the exhaust system.

For the 2024- generation, specific considerations apply due to the presence of two lambda sensors and the standard catalytic converter. As this is a full exhaust system on a motorcycle with an original catalysed exhaust, the original catalysed section is also replaced. Choosing the catalysed version results in no fuelling issues or warning lights: during the first rides a short break-in period of approximately 50 km in urban conditions with varied revs may be necessary, to allow the sports catalytic converter to reach its maximum effectiveness — motorway riding is not recommended during the first 50 km. Those who opt for the non-catalysed version should be aware that the MT-09 2024- is fitted with two lambda sensors: removing the catalytic converter means the second sensor does not find the values expected by the ECU and generates error code P0420, triggering the MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) warning light. The Lambda Optimizer + AMC Automatic MIL Clear Kit combines two separate modules: the Lambda Optimizer optimises delivery at low and mid revs, while the AMC Automatic MIL Clear automatically resets the MIL warning light — plug & play, no permanent modifications. The AMC Automatic MIL Clear is also available separately for those who simply want to eliminate the warning light without affecting engine performance or parameters. It is worth knowing that extensive testing on Euro 5+ models has shown that the second lambda sensor on these engines is particularly sensitive and sometimes unpredictable: sporadically, we have encountered MIL warning light activation even on homologated and catalysed exhausts, and even on completely standard motorcycles after a simple wash. Those who want peace of mind in every situation can therefore consider these kits regardless of the catalytic converter choice. The non-catalysed version is in any case reserved for track use or private roads, within the limits permitted by local regulations.
