The Yamaha MT-09 2017-2020 brings to the model everything the previous series lacked. The 847cc CP3 remains unchanged — 115 hp at 10,000 rpm, 87.5 Nm at 8,500 rpm — now homologated Euro 4 with revised mappings that make power delivery more manageable without losing any character. But around that engine almost everything changes: the 41mm USD KYB fork becomes fully adjustable with separate compression and extension registers on each leg, the most significant step forward over the previous series. ABS becomes standard, the two-level TCS traction control is included as standard, the QSS quickshifter for clutchless upshifts is included as standard, the slipper clutch arrives as standard. Everything that was previously absent or optional becomes standard in one move. The design is updated with a more aggressive new LED headlight, a redesigned and more compact tail section, the licence plate holder moved to the swingarm to free up the rear end. What we offer for the MT-09 2017-2020 is a full exhaust system that replaces the entire original exhaust, from the collector to the terminal. The original MT-09 exhaust is designed as an inseparable unit that does not allow replacement of the silencer alone: our system replaces the entire exhaust path maintaining compatibility with the original mounting points without requiring structural modifications. The silencer is positioned underbelly with lateral exit — on this series the swingarm remains asymmetric with the right-hand banana arm, a sign that the geometry of the original exhaust has not changed compared to the 2013-2016 series and that the exhaust path remains an integral part of the chassis design. The mounting kit is included in the supply. We recommend installation by a qualified mechanic to ensure correct and lasting fitment.

All models in this category are homologated for use on public roads throughout Europe and Switzerland with Euro 4 certification: the homologation certificate is included in the supply. The catalytic converter is available as an option in the product page drop-down menu: to maintain full road compliance it is necessary to choose the catalysed version. Choosing the catalysed version results in no fuelling issues or need for remapping: the ECU manages the new exhaust system without any additional intervention, although a short adaptation period during the first rides is normal. Those who opt for the non-catalysed version should consider that fuelling may not be optimal and that a remap will likely be necessary to get the best out of the exhaust system. The non-catalysed version is reserved for track use or contexts where road compliance is not required, within the limits permitted by local regulations.

On this Euro 4 MT-09 with fully adjustable fork and standard traction control, a sports exhaust works on a more refined chassis base than the previous series. The Euro 4 mappings had already slightly softened the low-rev response — a full exhaust recovers that sharp immediacy, optimising flow along the entire exhaust path and restoring to the CP3 the throttle responsiveness that is its distinguishing hallmark. The crossplane three-cylinder sound benefits in the same way: that harmonic, recognisable voice between 4,000 and 8,000 rpm becomes more present and defined, with a timbral quality that this MT-09 — more composed and better equipped than the first series — gains in sonic expressiveness exactly where it matters most, in everyday riding on mixed roads. The weight reduction in the underbelly area on a motorcycle weighing 193 kg in running order has a direct effect on mass distribution: less weight in that position translates into even faster direction changes and further refined communicativeness.

The dB killer is included as standard. It is not officially removable: its removal invalidates the homologation. For those who require further noise reduction, the No-Noise dB killer is available, featuring an internally welded filter that further reduces decibels without significantly affecting performance.
