What we offer is a sport silencer that replaces the stock muffler mounted in the lateral position. This is not a full exhaust system: the headers and the entire upstream section remain the original Kawasaki components, including the factory catalytic converter. The modification only concerns the final part of the exhaust, where the aftermarket silencer takes the place of the OEM unit. The fitting kit is included in the package and the mounting points are compatible with the originals, so no structural modifications are required. We nevertheless recommend having the installation carried out by a qualified mechanic, particularly to verify correct torque settings and proper alignment of the silencer against the bike.
The tangible benefits of replacing the stock muffler relate primarily to three areas. The first is weight: the OEM silencer on the Versys 1100 is quite bulky and heavy, and swapping it for an aftermarket unit made from lighter materials — such as titanium, carbon fibre or stainless steel depending on the version chosen — noticeably reduces weight at the rear of the motorcycle. The second is exhaust tone: the Kawasaki inline four has a distinctive voice, and a sport silencer delivers a more defined and present sound compared to the stock unit, without turning the Versys into something it is not. As this is an Euro 5+ motorcycle, the original catalytic converter remains in place, which naturally affects the overall sound level, keeping it contained and road-friendly. A dB killer is included as standard with every silencer. It is fitted in a fixed position and its removal is not officially intended, as doing so would void any applicable type approval. For those seeking an even quieter sound level, the No-Noise version is available on selected models: this is a welded internal baffle that further reduces decibel output without significantly affecting performance. Since only the silencer is being replaced, modifications to the ECU mapping are not normally required. The engine management system on the Versys 1100 continues to operate with its factory parameters, as headers, catalytic converter and sensors all remain in their original positions. This is a modification that does not alter the electronic balance of the motorcycle.
