Those who choose the non-catalysed version should factor in that power delivery may not be optimal until a dedicated remap, which is recommended to fully exploit the potential of the system. The non-catalysed version is intended for track use or off-road contexts, within the limits set by current regulations.

The Z650 2023- features a second lambda sensor that is particularly sensitive to the presence of the catalytic section. Installing the non-catalysed version, the ECU detects an anomaly in the parameters expected from the second sensor and generates error code P0420, certainly illuminating the MIL warning light. It is worth knowing that thorough testing on these models has shown that the second lambda sensor is particularly sensitive and sometimes unpredictable: sporadically, we have recorded MIL warning light activations even with homologated and catalysed exhausts, and even on completely stock motorcycles after a simple wash.
