The ZX-6R 636 returned to Europe in 2019 after a few years of absence from the continental market, with a completely renewed look and an electronics package befitting a true modern supersport. The 636 cc engine retains the basic architecture of the previous generation, but was revised to meet Euro 4 regulations: updated mapping, a shorter final drive ratio to enhance power delivery in the low-to-mid rev range, and a new standard exhaust system. The electronics package is comprehensive: three-level KTRC traction control, two power modes, KIBS — Kawasaki's ABS system developed specifically for supersport motorcycles — and KQS quickshifter as standard for clutchless upshifts. The chassis features the fully adjustable Showa SFF-BP fork, a benchmark component in the segment. The sports silencer we produce for this version is a lateral replacement terminal, supplied complete with link pipe and mounting kit. It connects to the original fittings of the bike without requiring any modifications to the structure: the headers and the front section of the exhaust system remain standard. Only the final terminal and its link pipe are replaced, in a direct and fully reversible way. Compatibility is with the original fittings of the 2019-2020 and the installation is designed to be straightforward. For installation we recommend entrusting the work to a qualified mechanic.
On a Euro 4 platform like this one, where the catalytic section is integrated into the original system upstream of the terminal, replacing only the silencer does not affect the catalytic section, which remains in place. This means that in the standard configuration — without catalytic converter — the sports exhaust replaces the standard terminal while keeping the front section of the system intact. The dB killer is included as standard. Its removal invalidates the road homologation and is not a practice we recommend. For those who want a further reduction in sound emissions, the No-Noise configuration is available, with an internally welded filter, selectable in the product page.
As this is a replacement silencer that does not affect the original catalytic section, in most cases no ECU remapping is required. The installation is compatible with the original fittings and requires no additional electronic intervention.
