The ZX-6R 636 is one of the most enduring and recognisable lines in the world supersport segment. Kawasaki introduced it in 1995, but the defining turning point came in late 2002 with an against-the-grain decision: increasing the displacement to 636 cc, against the canonical 599 cc of the category. The reasoning was technical and straightforward — more torque in the low and mid rev range, a fuller and more usable throttle response on the road — without sacrificing sporting character. From that point on, the 636 became the bike's defining trait, the reason why riders looking for something more than a standard 600 still choose it today. The technical differences between the generations are substantial and worth knowing. The 1998-2002 series still uses carburettors and features a flanged lateral exhaust terminal — a straightforward mechanical architecture with no electronic engine management. Over those years Kawasaki progressively refined the engine — a redesigned airbox in 1998, a higher compression ratio in 2000 — while keeping the same fundamental construction philosophy. The 2003 model brought a sharp break: electronic fuel injection, a 41 mm inverted fork, radially-mounted four-piston calipers, a stiffer and lighter aluminium frame. The 2003-2004 generation represents the most significant generational leap in the history of the ZX-6R 636, the one many consider the benchmark of the platform. The 2019-2020 generation brings the bike into the modern era: Euro 4 compliant, quickshifter as standard, three-level KTRC traction control, KIBS, two power modes and a fully adjustable Showa SFF-BP fork. A profoundly different motorcycle from its predecessors in terms of electronics and engine management.
On this page we have gathered all the sports silencers we make for the ZX-6R 636 family. These are in all cases replacement terminals: the silencer replaces the original terminal, while the headers and the front section of the exhaust system remain standard. The configuration varies significantly from one generation to the next — the flanged lateral terminal of the 1998-2002 models is a completely different system from the silencers with link pipe of later versions — so it is important to select the subcategory corresponding to your production year. Fitting a sports exhaust on a supersport like the ZX-6R 636 produces concrete results. The first is weight: the materials we use — stainless steel, aluminium, carbon depending on the chosen finish — allow a significant reduction compared to the standard terminal, with direct benefits on overall agility. The sound character becomes more defined, with a fuller presence in the mid and upper rev range. A sports terminal can contribute to a more linear throttle response and a feeling of greater readiness in more dynamic riding conditions. Homologated products for road use include the relevant certificate. The dB killer is included as standard: its removal invalidates the homologation. On some versions the No-Noise configuration is available, with an internally welded filter for a further reduction in sound emissions, selectable in the product page. The catalytic converter is available on models where it is applicable: if the option is not selectable in the product page, it means that for that specific version it is not required or that the original configuration does not call for it.

In most cases no ECU remapping is required, but requirements may vary depending on the chosen configuration and the generation of the bike.
