The sports silencer we offer for the GS 500 is designed to replace the original lateral muffler, retaining the standard mounting points without requiring any modifications to the exhaust system structure. This is not a full exhaust system: headers and mid-pipes remain stock. Our exhaust muffler replaces only the final silencer, with an included fitting kit that makes installation precise and clean. We nonetheless recommend entrusting the job to a qualified mechanic for a correct and safe fitment.

The first tangible benefit is weight: the original GS 500 muffler is not light, and replacing it with a sports silencer in stainless steel or aluminium results in a measurable weight saving, especially appreciated on a bike used in urban environments. The second is sound: the parallel twin's tone gains definition and depth, with a more direct character compared to the original. The effect is not that of a transformed bike, but of a bike that sounds more consistent with what the engine truly is. In terms of throttle response, a sports exhaust muffler can promote smoother gas flow management and, in certain riding conditions, may contribute to a more responsive and linear throttle feel.

The dB killer is included as standard on all our silencers. It is not officially removable: its removal invalidates the product homologation. For those who need further sound reduction — useful in urban contexts or on track with restrictive regulations — the No-Noise option is available, a welded internal filter that further lowers the sound level without significantly affecting flow characteristics.

Since this is a replacement of the silencer only, the GS 500's ECU does not normally require remapping or any electronic intervention. The engine continues to manage fuelling with its original parameters, and in the vast majority of cases no anomalies are recorded. It is nonetheless good practice, after any exhaust modification, to monitor the bike's behaviour during the first rides.
