ECU Remapping

ECU remapping is the work of rewriting the calibration the engine uses to manage injection and ignition. This section offers the kits to do it independently: the Alientech Powergate 4 tool, the cable dedicated to the model and up to 4 racing maps for the same bike, to be requested one at a time. 186 models from 20 brands are covered.

This is not a piggyback unit or a module wired between the sensors: the Powergate reprograms the original ECU directly, connecting to the diagnostic port. That is why the map is not a generic file taken from an archive, but is built from the real file of the bike, which reflects the model year and the specific configuration of that individual machine.

How it works. After the purchase the tool and the dedicated cable are shipped. The Powergate is connected to the diagnostic port, the smartphone app is opened and the original ECU map is read: it is saved automatically and stays available for a restore. The file read is sent to Roadsitalia: we develop the map for the configuration indicated and send it back by e-mail. It is uploaded through the app and the bike is ready. Nothing needs to be dismantled and no workshop visit is required.

Up to 4 maps for the same bike. The maps are not delivered all at once: the one matching the configuration indicated at the time of purchase is supplied first. The kit entitles the owner to request up to four in total for the same bike, at no extra cost. If the configuration changes later, for example by fitting a sports exhaust, removing the catalytic converter or adding a sports air filter, an updated map can simply be requested: it is prepared for the new configuration.

The bike configuration makes the difference. Four pieces of information are requested at the time of purchase: exhaust, catalytic converter, dB killer and air filter. Each of these parts belongs to the intake or the exhaust system, and the map is calibrated on the configuration declared. A bike with a full aftermarket exhaust and no catalytic converter needs a different calibration from a completely stock one. When the real configuration is indicated, the first map supplied is already the correct one.

Intended use and reversibility. The racing maps are developed for track use and for vehicles not intended for use on public roads. The original factory map is saved before every change and can be restored whenever required: the work is fully reversible, which is also worth considering with a future resale of the bike in mind.
