The silencers we offer for the Dorsoduro 900 are designed as replacement silencers for the original under-seat end cans. This means a pair of silencers that replaces the two stock mufflers, while keeping the headers and the rest of the original exhaust system intact. Each kit includes the pair of silencers, the necessary fitting hardware and gaskets for connection to the existing mounting points. Installation uses the same attachment points provided by Aprilia, with no modifications required to the frame or the sub-seat structure. We nevertheless recommend having the installation carried out by a qualified mechanic, especially considering the under-seat position which requires care in managing clearances and correctly torquing all fasteners.
The most immediate benefit of fitting a pair of aftermarket silencers on the Dorsoduro 900 is weight reduction. The stock end cans, designed to meet homologation limits with wide margins, are inevitably heavier than an aftermarket product built with lighter materials. By replacing only the silencers, the catalytic section of the original system remains in place and continues to perform its function. This means that ECU remapping or electronic modifications are not normally required. The engine management system continues to operate with its own parameters, and replacing only the end cans does not alter the operating conditions of the upstream system.
All our silencers come fitted with a standard dB killer. The dB killer is not officially removable: its removal voids the homologation. For those who want an even quieter sound level, the No-Noise version is available on selected models — a welded internal baffle that further reduces decibel levels without significantly affecting performance. No-Noise availability can be checked directly on the product page, where it can be selected from the drop-down options menu.
