With the Yamaha MT-09 2021-2023, Yamaha did not update the MT-09: it rebuilt it from scratch. Engine, frame, swingarm, electronics, instrumentation — everything new, everything rethought coherently around a precise objective: bring Europe's best-selling hyper naked to the level of the finest high-end sports bikes without losing the accessibility and ease of use that had made it great. The CP3 grows from 847 to 889cc, gains 4 hp reaching 119, and develops 93 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm — 1,400 rpm lower than the previous series, meaning even more immediate punch in everyday use. The engine is lightened by 700 grams and the new standard exhaust loses 1,400 grams compared to the original. The new CF die-cast aluminium Deltabox frame is 2.3 kg lighter yet gains 50% lateral rigidity. The swingarm becomes symmetric — the right arm is no longer a "banana" because the new lateral exhaust no longer needs to pass through it, a visible change that physically tells how deep the revision runs. The electronics take a categorical leap: six-axis IMU, three-level cornering TCS, SCS slide control, LIF anti-wheelie, BC brake control, cornering ABS, four selectable D-modes and riding modes. The LCD display gives way to a 3.5-inch colour TFT with app connectivity. Weight drops to 189 kg — 4 kg less than the previous series, on a motorcycle that under almost every aspect has become something else entirely. What we offer for the MT-09 2021-2023 is a full exhaust system that replaces the entire original exhaust, from the collector to the terminal. The original MT-09 exhaust is designed as an inseparable unit that does not allow replacement of the silencer alone: our system replaces the entire exhaust path maintaining compatibility with the original mounting points without requiring structural modifications. The silencer is positioned laterally — a configuration made necessary by the new larger Euro 5 catalytic converter that does not allow the underbelly positioning of the previous series, and which also determined the switch to the symmetric swingarm. The mounting kit is included in the supply. We recommend installation by a qualified mechanic to ensure correct and lasting fitment.
All models in this category are homologated for use on public roads throughout Europe and Switzerland with Euro 5 certification: the homologation certificate is included in the supply. The catalytic converter is available as an option in the product page drop-down menu: to maintain full road compliance it is necessary to choose the catalysed version. Choosing the catalysed version results in no fuelling issues or need for remapping: the ECU manages the new exhaust system without any additional intervention, although a short adaptation period during the first rides is normal. Those who opt for the non-catalysed version should consider that fuelling may not be optimal and that a remap will likely be necessary to get the best out of the exhaust system. The non-catalysed version is reserved for track use or contexts where road compliance is not required, within the limits permitted by local regulations.
On this 889cc Euro 5 CP3 with six-axis IMU and full ride-by-wire, a sports exhaust works on a mechanical and electronic base of a higher level than any previous series. The new standard exhaust had already shed 1,400 grams compared to the original — an already optimised starting point that our system takes further, refining flow management along the entire exhaust path and freeing the CP3 sound from the compromises imposed by Euro 5 homologation. The 889cc crossplane three-cylinder expresses its sonic character in an even more defined way than previous versions: the torque shifted downward — peak at 7,000 rpm rather than 8,500 — brings the rev range richest in sound and response exactly into the mid-throttle band where most riding actually happens. The weight reduction compared to the original exhaust adds to the 4 kg already recovered from the new frame and swingarm: on a chassis platform this refined, every gram eliminated in key positions translates into even more direct communicativeness.
Every system is handcrafted in Lombardy, in the province of Bergamo, made to order. This is not mass production: every part is machined and assembled in-house, with direct quality control at every stage. Direct sales from the manufacturer eliminate intermediaries and result in a more transparent relationship both on the product and on after-sales support.
The dB killer is included as standard. It is not officially removable: its removal invalidates the homologation. For those who require further noise reduction, the No-Noise dB killer is available, featuring an internally welded filter that further reduces decibels without significantly affecting performance. This option is also selectable in the product page drop-down menu.
