With the move to 2016, the Tiger Sport received a substantial update that goes well beyond aesthetics: the 1050 cc three-cylinder engine was brought into Euro 4 compliance through a thorough revision of the engine management system, introducing ride-by-wire throttle, three selectable riding modes, adjustable traction control and a slip-assist clutch. The result is a motorcycle that remained true to its nature as a versatile sport tourer, but with a more nuanced throttle response and more adjustable riding dynamics compared to the previous generation. The engine, derived from the updated Speed Triple of the same year, brings power to 126 hp with a torque delivery available from low revs that remains one of the strongest points of this platform. The original silencer sits high in a lateral position, on a three-into-one exhaust system — a configuration Triumph retained in this version as well for aesthetic and technical consistency. The sport silencer we produce for the Tiger 1050 Sport 2016-2021 is designed to replace the original muffler, leaving the headers and the mid-section of the exhaust system unchanged. This is not a full system replacement: our sport exhaust silencer attaches to the original fittings of the motorcycle without requiring any structural modifications. The original catalytic section remains in place, as our intervention concerns exclusively the final silencer. The mounting kit is included in the supply with everything needed for installation. For best results, it is advisable to have the fitting carried out by a qualified mechanic.
The 1050 cc three-cylinder engine has a naturally full and progressive sound, with a tonal character that comes into its own particularly in the mid-range where the engine performs at its best. Fitting a sport exhaust silencer allows that tonal characteristic to be brought out, delivering a more defined and distinctive sound compared to the original, without changing the nature of the motorcycle. In terms of weight, the reduction compared to the standard muffler is meaningful on a motorcycle of this displacement, with positive effects on mass distribution and responsiveness when changing direction. In some configurations, the different management of exhaust gas flow can favour a more direct throttle response in certain rev ranges. For those who prefer to reduce sound emission further — for example for predominantly urban use or personal preference — the No-Noise version is available, featuring an internal metal mesh filter that reduces decibels without significantly altering engine behaviour. Both options can be selected directly on the product page. Removing the dB killer invalidates the road homologation.
With only the sport silencer installed, ECU remapping is generally not required. The original catalytic section remains in place and the motorcycle's electronic system continues to operate normally. Any mapping optimisations can be evaluated on a case-by-case basis depending on the chosen configuration.
