Unveiled at EICMA 2017, the new Tiger 800 range arrived with over two hundred updates compared to the previous generation: engine, frame, chassis and electronics were all revised in depth, resulting in a lighter, more responsive and better equipped motorcycle. The 799 cc three-cylinder engine retains its 95 hp but gains a lighter flywheel, a shorter first gear and a factory exhaust system already revised by Triumph for reduced weight and improved sound character. The electronics package becomes more sophisticated with up to six selectable riding modes — Road, Rain, Sport, Off-Road, Rider and Off-Road Pro on XC models — while instrumentation moves to a 5" colour TFT display and braking is handled by Brembo components. The range splits into the XR versions, with a 19" front wheel and a more road-oriented character, and the XC versions, with a 21" front wheel and a greater off-road capability: two distinct personalities sharing the same engine and the same exhaust layout with a single silencer on the right-hand side. The sport silencer we produce for the Tiger 800 2017-2020 is designed to replace the original muffler, leaving the headers and the mid-section of the exhaust system unchanged. This is not a full system replacement: our sport exhaust silencer attaches to the original fittings of the motorcycle without requiring any structural modifications. The original catalytic section remains in place, as our intervention concerns exclusively the final silencer. The mounting kit is included in the supply with everything needed for installation. For best results, it is advisable to have the fitting carried out by a qualified mechanic.
The 799 cc three-cylinder engine in this generation has a more defined sonic character than previous versions, but the standard silencer remains oriented towards noise containment. A sport exhaust silencer allows the natural tonal character of the three-cylinder to be brought out, delivering a more assertive and distinctive voice without altering the balanced nature of the motorcycle. In terms of weight, the reduction compared to the original silencer is measurable and translates into a more favourable mass distribution, with positive effects on handling both on tarmac and off-road — a context where every kilogram matters. In some configurations, the different management of exhaust gas flow can favour a more responsive throttle at the most frequently used rev ranges. Results vary depending on the chosen configuration and how the motorcycle is used.
We produce silencers for the Tiger 800 2017-2020 through handcrafted manufacturing in Lombardy, in the province of Bergamo. Products are approved for road use in compliance with the Euro 4 standard, with the homologation certificate included. The dB killer is supplied as standard with every silencer. For those who prefer to reduce sound emission further — for example for predominantly urban use or personal preference — the No-Noise version is available, featuring an internal metal mesh filter that reduces decibels without significantly altering engine behaviour. Both options can be selected directly on the product page. Removing the dB killer invalidates the road homologation.
With only the sport silencer installed, ECU remapping is generally not required. The original catalytic section remains in place and the motorcycle's electronic system continues to operate normally. Any mapping optimisations can be evaluated on a case-by-case basis depending on the chosen configuration.
