The silencers we offer for the F 800 GS are compatible with versions produced from 2008 to 2016. The final 2017 and 2018 series feature a different exhaust layout and are not covered by this compatibility: if you own one of these models, please contact us before purchasing. For all other model years, the silencer is designed to replace only the original end can, fitted in the lateral position. This is not a full exhaust system: the headers and the mid-pipe remain stock, and the silencer connects directly to the original mounting points of the bike. Each kit includes all the hardware required for installation. The job is within reach of anyone with good mechanical skills, but we still recommend having it fitted by a qualified mechanic to ensure correct fastening and optimal sealing of all joints.
Replacing the original end can with one of our silencers brings several tangible benefits. The first is weight reduction: the stock BMW end cans on this platform are quite heavy, and the weight saving is noticeable, especially on a bike whose key strength is its lightness. The second is the sound: the parallel twin of the F 800 GS has an interesting acoustic character that the stock silencer tends to muffle. Every silencer is supplied with a standard dB killer included. This component is not officially removable: its removal invalidates the homologation. If you prefer even greater noise reduction, on some models the No-Noise version is available, featuring a welded internal filter that further reduces decibels without significantly affecting performance. The No-Noise version can be selected directly on the product page, where available.
Since only the silencer is being replaced, no ECU remapping is normally required. The intake system, headers and any original catalytic converter remain in place: the bike's electronic management is not altered and no faults or warning lights should be expected.
