The Yamaha Tracer 900 is the sport tourer that redefined the middleweight segment in Europe: launched in 2015 and updated in 2017, it won over a vast audience thanks to a rare balance of performance, comfort and versatility. The heart is the CP3 847cc inline three-cylinder — the same engine as the MT-09 and XSR 900, here tuned for touring with a half fairing, adjustable screen and upright riding position. 115 HP and a full, linear torque that expresses itself across the entire rev range, from city traffic to motorway to fast mixed roads. In 2018 Yamaha introduced the GT version alongside the base model, the most fully equipped in the range: electronically adjustable KYB suspension, hard panniers, taller touring screen, bidirectional quickshifter and heated grips as standard — a motorcycle ready to go without needing to add anything. Both versions share the three-mode traction control and D-MODE mappings specific to the Tracer, introduced with the 2018 update. What we offer for the Tracer 900 / Tracer 900 GT 2017-2020 is a full exhaust system, not a simple replacement silencer. The original exhaust is designed as a single unit — headers, mid-pipe and silencer form an inseparable assembly that does not allow the replacement of the end can alone. Our system replaces the entire exhaust path, from the engine outlet to the terminal, maintaining compatibility with the original mounting points without requiring structural modifications. In the standard configuration the silencer replicates the position of the original: underbelly routing with low exit near the swingarm, a solution that keeps the centre of gravity low and the masses centralised. For those who prefer a high lateral position that is more visible aesthetically, the Lateral Exhaust Kit is available separately, bringing the silencer to the side of the motorcycle and including all components needed for installation without modifications. The mounting kit is included in the supply. We recommend installation by a qualified mechanic to ensure correct and lasting fitment.
All models in this category are approved for use on public roads throughout Europe and Switzerland with Euro 4 certification: the homologation certificate is included in the supply. The original exhaust of the Tracer 900 / Tracer 900 GT 2017-2020 is fitted with a catalytic converter: the new exhaust must be purchased in the catalysed version to maintain full road compliance.
On the CP3 847cc of the Tracer 900 the benefits of a full exhaust system are immediate and tangible. The Yamaha three-cylinder already has an unmistakable voice as standard — that distinctive mid-high pitch characteristic of inline engines with irregular firing sequences — but a sports exhaust makes it fuller, more present and more defined in the mid-range, where the CP3 expresses the best of its character. The weight reduction over the original system, dimensioned to comply with Euro 4 noise limits, lightens the motorcycle in a peripheral area: on a sport tourer where a low centre of gravity is already a key design feature, every kilogram removed in this position improves response in direction changes and reduces inertia in low-speed manoeuvres.
Each system is handcrafted in Lombardy, in the province of Bergamo, to order. This is not mass production: every part is machined and assembled in-house, with direct quality control at every stage. Direct sales from the manufacturer eliminate intermediaries and result in a more transparent relationship both on the product and on after-sales support.
As this is a complete exhaust system on a motorcycle with a catalysed original exhaust, the original catalytic section is also replaced. The catalytic converter is available as an option in the product page drop-down menu. Choosing the catalysed version results in no fuelling issues or warning light activation, though a short adaptation period for the ECU to the new system is normal: during the first rides, minor variations in power delivery may appear, which will resolve themselves automatically. Those who opt for the non-catalysed version should consider that fuelling may not be optimal and that an ECU remap will likely be necessary to get the best out of the exhaust system. The non-catalysed version is reserved for track use or contexts where road compliance is not required, within the limits permitted by local regulations.
The dB killer is included as standard. It is not officially removable: its removal invalidates the homologation. For those who want further noise reduction, the No-Noise dB killer is available, featuring a welded internal filter that further reduces decibels without significantly affecting performance. This option is also selectable in the product page drop-down menu.
