The modern Z1000 inline four-cylinder was born in 2003 from a precise project: take the ZX-9R engine, increase its displacement to 953 cc, redistribute the power towards the mid rev range and build an uncompromising naked bike around it. The result is a streetfighter that over twenty years goes through three very different generations, each with its own technical and visual identity, but all sharing a direct character and a sound that is an integral part of the riding experience. On this page we have gathered the products we make for the 2004-2006, 2007-2009 and 2010-2016 generations, among the most widespread and appreciated in the family, along with many other production years. The "no SX" designation indicates that this category is dedicated exclusively to the standard naked version, not the sport-tourer variant. The three generations are clearly distinct. The 2004-2006 series mounts the ZX-9R derived engine in 953 cc form, with a high-tensile steel diamond frame, a 41 mm Showa upside-down fork and a lateral twin silencer — one per side — as a defining visual trait. It is a motorcycle that favours the mid-to-high rev range, with a power delivery that becomes progressively more incisive beyond 6,000 rpm, and a contained weight that makes it agile despite the displacement. With the 2007 model Kawasaki updated the platform in depth: the engine was remounted with new supports to reduce vibrations, the power delivery was revised to improve low-rev response, petal discs and radial calipers arrived at the front. The styling became more aggressive and fuller, but the symmetrical lateral twin exhaust remained one of the bike's defining traits. The 2010 model marks the sharpest break: a new 1,043 cc engine, more torque, more power, a completely redesigned frame and lines that anticipated the styling language Kawasaki would call Sugomi — restrained tension, muscular shapes, a motorcycle that communicates aggression even standing still. The 2014 version further refined this concept with full LED headlights, a Showa Big Piston fork, radial monobloc calipers and a visual package that defines the modern identity of the Z family.
On this page you will find all the sports silencers we make for the Z1000 (no SX). These are in all cases replacement terminals in a dual configuration: two silencers, right and left, replacing the original terminals while leaving the front section of the system unchanged. The headers remain standard. The configuration with mounting kit and link pipe is common to all three generations, but the fittings and geometry change between one series and the next: it is therefore essential to select the subcategory corresponding to your production year. On a naked bike like the Z1000, where the lateral twin exhaust is an integral part of the visual and sonic character of the motorcycle, replacing the original terminals with a pair of sports silencers produces immediate and well-defined effects. The weight reduction compared to the pair of standard silencers is significant, with direct benefits on agility and mass distribution. The sound character becomes more defined and present, with a fuller voice in the mid rev range — where the 953 or 1,043 cc four-cylinder expresses its characteristic torque. Throttle response can feel more linear and the sense of readiness may improve under more dynamic riding conditions. Benefits vary depending on the version of the bike and the chosen configuration.
Homologated products for road use include the relevant certificate. The dB killer is included as standard in both silencers: its removal invalidates the homologation. A catalytic converter is not applicable for this model family. On some versions the No-Noise configuration is available, with an internally welded filter for a further reduction in sound emissions, selectable in the product page.
Our exhausts are produced with handcrafted manufacturing in Lombardy, in the province of Bergamo. Each piece is made to order with an internal quality check before shipment. Direct from the manufacturer sales allow us to maintain a direct relationship with the customer, both at the point of purchase and afterwards.
Products are supplied complete with a mounting kit with link pipe and are designed for compatibility with the original fittings of the bike. In most cases no ECU remapping is required, but requirements may vary depending on the chosen configuration and the production year.
